Re: “Bacon is sexy, and that’s a problem

This lost me in the first paragraph - the is only a very limited sense in which that study said that processed and red meat "is the equivalent of smoking cigarettes." As in - it is not equivalent in its effects on human health.

And if we were going back to a sustainable way of living, we might well be slitting our own pigs throats, but we'd also be making them into ham and bacon so they don't rot and become disgusting and kill us.

Re: “Why weren't we ready for the Big Lift?

I anticipated these kinds of problems, and that I would have to plan getting around accordingly. I don't know anyone who did not think there would be significant traffic interruptions.

Re: “Food sovereignty is faulty in Halifax

Sobeys is trying to find a neiche market in slightly higher end food shopping I think. They have never really competed with Superstore (or Costco) in a big-box, everything is available kind of way, and now Walmart and Giant Tiger and discount places are looking at taking over the low end of the market. I suspect Pete's is the direction they are looking to head in, so buying it makes a lot of sense.

Re: “Black Dragon Mountain’s problems lead to understanding

I wish the article gave some real indication of how many really were upset about this - it's pretty common that a few people will complain on social media and it gets picked up as if it were a trend or a widespread sentiment.

In any case, I am not looking forward to the day when this attitude infects the music industry and musicians are no longer allowed to be inspired by other cultures, use their instruments, or play their songs.
