Little Inferno

WiiU, OSX, Windows, Linux (Tomorrow Corporation)

Perhaps one of the most unusually entertaining launch games for the WiiU’s eShop (also available on Mac and PCs), Little Inferno is a fascinating art project as much as it is a game. The entire experience is set in front of a fireplace, in which the user burns things like toys, food or completely unexpected objects. There is no real goal, time limit, or points earned with the gameplay. You just burn stuff. It’s the twisted backstory—which unfolds as you incinerate objects bought from a catalog service—that shines the most. You communicate through mail with a mysterious person who sends you things (to burn, naturally) and discuss why everyone is stuck inside, burning things in their homes. There’s something off-putting and ominous in the background that begs to be discovered. Definitely check out this unique title.
