Crowd-pleasing DJs Goldilocks (Catherine Abreau) and Fancy Pants (Jessica Ross) want to help you dance your annoyances, messes and stresses away. If you find yourself on the dance floor at the Khyber on Saturday you'll be jamming to everything from funk to hip-hop, from slow electro to hard house, with hints of world music, Drake and, essentially, anything you want to hear. "When we got together with the other members of the Ladies' Beverage Room, it was to create an opportunity for Halifax's burgeoning female DJ population to get together, share ideas, tunes, gear and skills, and form a support network we could all groove to," says Abreau. "The world of DJs is overwhelmingly male-dominated and often isn't focused on the kinds of priorities members of the LBR share: creating safe and fun spaces where people feel good about really letting go." The city's newest dance party will be a monthly throw-down and next month will welcome its first guest DJ.
