Letters to the Editor

September 12, 2007-09

It was a sad day today when the One World Café closed its doors. For me personally it was a boot to the voids. This was a neighbourhood café in the truest sense of the word. A place to hang with friends. A place to perform with my band, which we did often (through all our musical transformations) A place to host the monthly Seduction of Songwriters. I also frequently hosted the Open Mikes.

During August, I took between 500-700 pictures/ video clips of One World Café activities. I wrote a song called One World Café, recorded it at home, put together a video which I hope captures some of the unique atmosphere and friendliness of the best café in Halifax. The music video can be viewed on “ Search for Albert August One World Café.” I have another video with lots more pix that I will soon download as well.

Thanx for the memories.

What should be done with the dead agave plant?

  • Chop it up and chase it with lime and salt
  • Cast it in bronze and put it where Cornwallis was
  • Burn it ritually for biomass
  • Plant it in every white girl's succulent garden
