Letters to the Editor 

To the people of HRM, and the rest of Canada,

It is time to scrap the young offenders act. Seriously. Yes, there is a strong argument to keep it intact, but I beleive that with the increasing frequency of significant crimes being performed by children - such as assult, attempted murder, grand theft auto, to name a few of the recent events - we cannot let these crimes go unpunished. Yes, I understand it will take a great deal of resources and time to update the system, but how can we let these crimes be tried under a system that was meant for much less severe crimes? Swarmings, random violence, gang violence, and a complete utter disrespect for other people need to stop. Lets do something about this. And the reason I choose nto to use my real name is because if I do a gang of 15-20 teenagers will show up at my door and beat me, my family, kill my dog and steal my car.
