Letters to the Editor

To The Editor In response to Chelsea Murray’s letter to the editor regarding my comment on milk "Fighting Words" (January 18). I would like to clarify that at no time in my interview with Sue Carter-Flynn of The Coast, did I suggest that Canadian dairy farmers inject their cows with artificial hormones. I am very aware that this practice is illegal in this country. When I mentioned hormones, I was specifically talking about naturally occurring hormones and their possible effects on humans. Although there’s still a lot of research to be done in this area, in the practice of natural nutrition, we see over and over again, women with PMS and other hormone imbalances have their symptoms greatly improve when they avoid dairy products. Milk is well known to be one of the top ten allergic foods and although some can enjoy it without symptoms, many cannot. Penny Ormsbee, RHN, RNCPRegistered Holistic Nutritional Consultant & Educator

Should council use the yet-to-be-finalized Centre Plan when debating new developments?

  • No, it doesn’t exist yet and is still likely to change
  • Yes, thousands of hours of work and consultation have gone into what’s already assembled
  • Maybe, it really depends on what’s being proposed by the developer
  • I don’t know what the Centre Plan is and do not wish to participate in this poll
