Don’t judge a book by its cover. That’s the message of the romantic-comedy musical Legally Blonde, and also my advice to anyone who is thinking of missing it. It may not be Shakespeare, but it is sharp, stylish and sexy. It’s a non-stop parade of jaw-dropping dance numbers (choreographed by Chad McNamara), eye-popping fashions (by Sarah Armstrong) and elegantly effective sets (by Geofrey Dinwiddie). Legally Blonde is the hilarious story of Elle Woods, a Valley-girl-turned-Harvard-law-student on a journey to self-empowerment. Lindsey Frazier, who plays Elle, is a musical powerhouse and a top-notch dancer with priceless comedic timing---attributes shared by an amazing ensemble cast. There are so many clever numbers in this show (“Is He Gay, or European” jumps to mind), but I can practically guarantee you’ll leave with the opening number “Omigod You Guys” burrowed happily in your ear. —Kate Watson
