No as bad as you might think, but not as good as you deserve, slot Law Abiding Citizen into the pleasantly forgettable end of the vigilante-justice fantasy genre. Gerard Butler doesn't have the acting skills to convincingly convey the many facets of Clyde Shelton, a committed family man who has the employment credentials of both MacGyver and The Unabomber. When his family's killers get off on a flimsy deal, Shelton is more than qualified to unleash hell on the system that let him down, while Jamie Foxx (too good for this material) impotently tries to stop him. Citizen's thrills and shocks are made with glee and style, which makes the film pleasant, but the absence of emotional or intellectual engagement make it forgettable. –Hillary Titley
