Laura Peek and her winning heart

The sweet local singer plays a duo show with Mike O'Neill at the Khyber.

The lady that wins our hearts with each piano key and sweet note is performing at the Khyber this Saturday, as half of a duo with Mike O'Neill. "It will be piano and bass, and lots of singing," writes Peek. "Also, two of my favourite local ladies will be doing sets: Cactus Flower (Jess Lewis) writes really awesome songs that have been stuck in my head for weeks, and V Park (Victoria Parker) has a voice like a bell." Peek finished a solo Ontario tour earlier this year and lugged around a "heavy rented piano" for her sets, even playing a show at her grandmother's nursing home in London. She says her second album, Key, will be done very soon, and she'll be touring it from Halifax to Ontario with her buddy Fall Horsie. "We are trying to book places with real pianos," Peek adds.
