Cara Sawka's newest exhibit was born out of an email subject line. While teaching at a music camp, the Regina native began collecting the teaching philosophies of various musicians, and it was the wise words of Nashville fiddle-player Buddy Spicher that resonated with her for years. The subject of his email read "IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU", which took Sawka aback at first but, once she read on, it made sense. "It doesn't matter what kind of player you are...all the other factors and people involved in the performance are essential." His words of music wisdom rang true to Sawka not only on a wider societal level, but also when it came to her art, inspiring this sculptural exhibit of wood-turned legs and a series of fabric works. "It applies to how I look at my participation and contribution, and how so many things go into that beyond me."
