The DalTheatre production of Oscar Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan is truly sumptuously scrumptious. The set is a marvel of elegance and detail. The costumes are so dazzling that they’re simply a feast for the eyes. And the acting, well, what can I say? Wilde in the wrong hands sounds merely wordy and pompous, but these young actors bring the characters to life, making the words come alive in all their wit and style. Windermere is more drama than comedy, and it delivers a really interesting message about appearances, true goodness and morality. Although the rigorous moral measures of Victorian society no longer apply, there is still substance to the bones of Wilde’s observations. Gossip is just as hurtful today, but in this case, I’d say anything you have to say about this show will be fabulous. Feel free to pass it on. –Kate Watson
