The True Lies premise of Secret Agent Husband revealing his professional killer side rears its head again. Using James Cameron's ’90s director of photography Russell Carpenter, Killers at least bests recent rom-coms She's Out of My League, Miss March and The Proposal in that its stars are attractively lit. But how trite does a movie have to be before you can sit through all 100 minutes of it and not claim to have seen anything? One can imagine this movie coming out 50 years ago (and remembering it fondly) with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn in the Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl roles. Today, its feather-weight humour just bespeaks a lack of effort rather than an intended focus. The incorporation of action movie treachery as a stand-in for regular folks' marital stress and secrecy is nothing new and it’s hindered from being very funny because the characters behave as plot-robots rather than people. –Mark Palermo
