I see over a 100 plays a year, and I'm predicting that Kill Shakespeare will stand out as one of the most memorable and entertaining of 2012. It's a live stage adaptation of Anthony Del Col and Conor MaCreery's popular graphic novel series of the same name. Del Col and MaCreery's writing is stylish and clever, and the universe they have created by drawing on some of Shakespeare's most famous lines and characters is engrossing. They bring this writing to life in an exciting show that blends radio-play-style drama, artist Andy Belanger's amazing comic art and original music. I can't imagine a better cast than the combined talents of Halifax's Lions Den and Vile Passeist Theatres. The script requires quick changes in character, extreme bursts of emotion and exquisite pacing, and this cast delivered, as did the crew who produced a technically flawless show. Not to be missed!
