In just over five years, Kelly Neil has come out of seemingly nowhere to become one of Nova Scotia's favourite food photographers. "I am fuelled by learning," she says. "I don't have any formal training and every time I pick up my camera, set up lights, move a piece of pasta with tweezers, I learn something new. I'm a total work in progress and I love that."

Neil was behind the lens on Elizabeth Bailey's cookbook Maritime Fresh and has taken photos for everyone from Brooklyn Warehouse and Le French Fix to PR agencies in Toronto. "I get to use my imagination, take pictures and eat. What's not to like about that?"

Should council use the yet-to-be-finalized Centre Plan when debating new developments?

  • No, it doesn’t exist yet and is still likely to change
  • Yes, thousands of hours of work and consultation have gone into what’s already assembled
  • Maybe, it really depends on what’s being proposed by the developer
  • I don’t know what the Centre Plan is and do not wish to participate in this poll
