Re: “The NDP’s proposal for a $15 minimum wage by 2019 was shot down by the provincial government. What do you think?

How about instead of raising the wages of the unskilled we look at a wage cap so we don't have certain politicians and corporate personal making ridiculous wages which drive the cost of living and taxes through the roof. Do people not understand that if wages go up, prices HAVE to go up to compensate. As a small business owner, I can tell you that I WILL NOT default on my mortgage so I can pay a cleaner the same thing college grads make. If min wage goes up, do you think the tenured employees, or specialized employees are going to stand for unskilled, new workers making as much, no, their wages will also need to go up. Prices would need to be raised again... small business that operate on razor thin margins will disappear. Big box will be your only choice and they will automate rather than pay skilled wages to unskilled workers. Look at mcdonalds moving towards touchscreen ordering stations, grocery stores and their self checkouts that only require one employee for up to a dozen registers... You need to look at the big picture.
