John McEwen: Flotsam and Jetsam

An exhibition of sculpture about life's wealth. In this exhibition McEwen assembled new work from a variety of previous attempts. "My primary focus has been that of a salvage operator. However, it's not simply that some things were overlooked, but that other things were unheard. With ears unplugged I have tried to let this examination of previous attempts reopen the world to me. This is a world without any neat dichotomy between active and passive or animals and humans. It is, as the French Philosopher Jean Merleau Ponty describes, a world of melodies, melodies that sing themselves." Opening reception on Friday, October 10 from 6 to 8pm.
