Shine On
Before the Killers tried to resurrect new wave, Jet attempted a resurrection of its own, trying to breathe life into modern classic rock. Its debut, Get Born, burst out with the wildly popular “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” and rock radio staples “Look What You’ve Done.” The Killers went big with their follow-up, Jet scaled everything down, for a more access- ible album in Shine On. Jet still wears its influences on its sleeve and this time around try to out-Oasis Oasis—tracks like “Shine On” or “Come On Come On” could’ve easily come from the Gallagher camp. It would be nice to hear what Jet sounds like underneath all the layers of influence. Hopefully next time the band can record some original material.
