Jenny & Pamela

Married June 1, 2013

  • Dustin Hall Photography

When Pamela Mosher bought the rings for her and Jenny Johnston, she had it all planned--- a romantic sunset proposal on Citadel Hill---but her nerves got the best of her. "I was so nervous about doing it that I ended up asking, at home, the same day I bought the rings," she admits. Fortunately, that's where the nerves ended---the couple chose to take a calm approach to planning. "It was both stressful and joyful at various points, which I think is pretty typical," she says. The couple decided to split their celebrations with an intimate ceremony at ViewPoint Gallery followed by dinner at Saege Bistro in Halifax and, a week later, a more traditional reception at The Rosehill in Toronto to accommodate both families and friends. Since the couple didn't live in either city superfluous decorations were kept to a minimum, focusing instead on handmade place cards (in Toronto they named tables after Canadian poets, including quotes from their works), delicious food, local wine and most importantly, a great photographer. "The quality of photography was most important to us," says Pamela, "because it would provide some of the only tangible mementos of the days." Everything ended up going according to plan, with stand out moments like a champagne toast in their room at the Lord Nelson, saying their vows and the heartwarming experience of listening to their parents' speeches. "We were both very overwhelmed, but very happy that day," she says. "We know how fortunate we are."
