Kingdom Come
Back in 2003 Jay-Z announced his retirement prior to dropping his alleged swan song The Black Album. There was no heir to the Roca throne, so Hova opted to head back to the game and resume his reign with Kingdom Come. Kingdom Come is a welcome return. Blasting off with the smokin’ “Show Me What You Got,” tracks such as “Minority Report” and “30 Something” all reiterate what the title implies—the king is back. In an effort to maximize its impact, Hova hired the biggest names in the game to man the booth (Dre, Swizz Beats and Just Blaze) while he attended to the mic. Though not as hot as Reasonable Doubt, it’s a far superior effort to The Black Album.
