It's on!

3.5 hours of "spectacle"

8 - 8:30am Cue majestic, pomp-tastic music. Fancy graphics. Wide aerial pans across Beijing. The Bird's Nest. 29th Olympiad begins. We're viewing the CBC right now. Lots of stuff about how great we are. And some old footage of Peter Mansbridge with hair - a clip given to Ron McLean by George Stroumboulopoulos. Ouch!

What I love about the build-up coverage before the Olympics are all the factoid articles. I'll paraphrase the Reuters Blog: 15,153 costumes; 179,400 botled drinks; 3,000 Confucian scholars and 58 actors dancing on top of a globe.

8:24 The term Grayjing is let loose on CBC. All about the smog and green algae.
