It’s spring time, and the folks at Imagine Bloomfield want to celebrate with a spring fair that’ll sprout a native perennial and heirloom seed sale, local vendors and family activities. “It’s to celebrate gardening and the take on helping Bloomfield bloom,” says Susanna Fuller, co-chair of Imagine Bloomfield. The blooming Fuller talks about is that of the community of Bloomfield: the centre’s Master Plan was approved by council last September and Imagine Bloomfield---a non-profit group that’s been working to keep Bloomfield afloat since its near-closure in 2004---is just about ready to present its research of what groups and individuals want to use the centre in the future. “The ‘who’ at Bloomfield,” explains Fuller. She adds that Imagine Bloomfield is “just the advocacy group that keeps poking them [the city]” and laughs---but it’s working. Six years after the north end almost lost this community centre, plans are rolling to get it up and running---albeit slowly. For now, give Bloomfield your support by checking out its spring fair and attending Imagine Bloomfield’s AGM on May 19, 6-9pm, at the centre. –Holly Gordon
