Ryan DesRoches knows the importance of a good snack. As a one time competitive cyclist, he was no stranger to the standard energy bar. But after realizing a lot of the ones he was devouring came from countries other than our own, and were made of processed ingredients, he came up with the idea to make a quick, healthy snack of his own—one that was free of gluten, dairy and processed sugar, vegan-friendly and packed with protein.

Enter the Bandha Bar, a naturally-sweetened, handmade bar that comes in Almond Chia Chocolate and Cashew Cocoa flavours. The small-but-mighty bars have been energizing Haligonians for nearly two years, and are available at 21 locations across town including the Smiling Goat (1551 South Park Street), The Trail Shop (6210 Quinpool Road) and Java Blend (6027 North Street). Plus, its wrapper is recyclable and all Bandha Bar deliveries in town are done via bike. This bar has a tiny footprint, but it’ll help you make huge strides.
