Ice ice baby

The Canada Games skating oval arrives just in time for the holidays.

Perhaps you've noticed that the event throwers and goers of the HRM are in holiday hibernation. That means it's time to step up to the plate, get out there and make your own fun, people! Timed perfectly with this lull in goings on, is the opening of the massive skating oval on the North Common. The future site for Canada Games competition is the city's answer to New York's romantic Rockefeller Center rink (and to our years of pining for skating on Parade Square). The oval will host free daily skating sessions, free lessons and they'll even have skates to lend you if you haven't got your own. As long as weather permits, the rink will be open to the public seven days a week and they've got big plans for special events. Sounds like a reason to crawl out of your cocoon, channel your inner Stojko and have at it.

  • Let’s invest in renewable energies instead
  • Depends how much cash I, personally, will receive
