I met my girl at the record store

(One of the best in Canada)

Just moments ago, Taz Records (1593 Market) was announced by Grant Lawrence over on Radio 3 as one of the top 5 Best Independent Record Stores in Canada (culled from a list of 47 across the country, then voted upon by listeners, even giants like Soundscapes in Toronto didn’t make it, though Back Alley in Ch’town and Backstreet in Saint John did). Voting continues at R3 for the next week, with the winner being announced April 18, aka International Record Store Day.

Win or lose, Taz is celebrating with a live in-store on Saturday, April 19. Guests will include Old Man Luedecke (new album April 26!), Tanya Davis (new album June 19!), Laura Merriman, Save September and Rumoured to Be Alive. Two other dope things about this show: it starts at 1pm, and is FREE. —Tara Thorne
