Holiday Burn Out Sure Thing

When: Wed., Dec. 23, 8 p.m. 2009
Price: $3
Eyelevel Gallery is hosting a holiday fundraiser that'll paint the town coal black tonight. "We wanted to have something that's not your typical holiday party; maybe give some people a break from the holiday madness at this time of year," says Eyelevel director Michael McCormack. Cue the burn-out theme, a lump of coal guessing contest and a suggestion to dress all in black, and you have the makings of this holiday shindig. VJ Johnny---John Matthews---has unearthed his vintage music video collection, ranging in recordings from '50s to the '80s, and plans to keep you hopping well into the evening. If you guess the correct number of lumps of coal, you'll take home a homemade motion-sensored popcorn popper (courtesy of Justin Tyler Tate). There are plenty of other prizes from local businesses, and you'll be supporting the gallery. So go on, give those lumps of coal a guess. –Holly Gordon
