Directed by Matt Smiley, "Highway of Tears" tells the story of 18 women murdered along the 724km stretch of highway in British Columbia since the 1960s. The film discusses how generational poverty, unemployment and violence in their communities contributed to their tragic fates — and how contemporary First Nations leaders are striving to cure those ills. Proceeds to benefit the Loretta Saunders Scholarship Fund.
