"The festival lineup at the Halifax Urban Folk Fest is so good this year. The organizers have done such a great job of putting it together," says New Brunswick's folk-pop singer Andy Brown. "If you're looking for a festival with strong musicianship and a great community-based atmosphere, then HUFF is for you."

On Friday night at Rockbottom Brewpub, Brown will perform a special warm-up show for HUFF, the annual week-long folk-rock festival running till September 6 that also features Norman Blake from Teenage Fanclub, Steve Poltz, Neil Osborne (54-40), Linda Ortega and so many more, at some of the finest music venues in the city.

Brown is also releasing his third album, Seasons. Recorded at Echo Lake with producer Daniel Ledwell, Seasons is Brown's most thoughtful recording to date. "Seasons bleed into one another without realizing time has passed. The songs on the album centre around this idea. If we sit idly by and watch the seasons change around us, something or somebody can be gone forever," says Brown. "Working with Daniel was a truly amazing experience. I couldn't be happier." The album also features Jenn Grant, Kinley Downing of Hey Rosetta! and Australia's Dylan Wright.

Much-recognized for his honest and poetic songwriting, Brown is always on tour. His performance at HUFF is one of his first stops across Canada until the end of October, during his favourite time of year. "Fall is by far my favourite season. There's something in the air that always makes me feel so inspired," he says. "It best emphasizes the true beauty of change."
