This Newfoundland lush-rock outfit nabbed an ECMA nomination for the LP version, which caught the attention of Sonic Records (Matt Mays, Nathan Wiley), which signed the band up for a remix and release in this shorter form. If you missed the independently produced original, this record is a worthy choice. They’ve smartly made the incredible power ballad “The Simplest Thing” the EP’s centrepiece, keeping the radio-unfriendly closer “It’s a fucking sick way to love” intact. While there are no huge changes, the songs sound bigger overall, bringing Tim Baker’s lovely voice to the front and surrounding him with well-placed dollops of orch-pop beauty.
