Big changes for henhouse

An empty nest is in the future for henhouse (5533 Young Street, 423-4499). The Hydrostone home and lifestyle design shop and showroom announced today it will be closing the retail portion of the business on February 28. "It's a great showcase for the aesthetic," says Sappho Griffin, who co-owns henhouse with Denise Coulter. "It's been great and there are a lot of loyal clients that love the aesthetic. It will definitely be sad to not have a spot to share with people." But the change that's in the air is positive, Griffin says she and Coulter decided to scale back the business after 11 years in the interest of time and family. And although the retail store will be closing, henhouse's custom design and furniture services will live on, just out of a studio instead. So now may be the time for that home upgrade. In efforts to clear out all of the custom made furniture, quirky little accents and other stylish accessories in the Young Street shop, there'll be everything-must-go mark downs storewide from now until it closes.

henhouse's Facebook page and blog will still be active, sharing any exciting projects that hatch in the future, and those interested in design consultations or further information can drop a line to info@henhouse.ca .
