Re: “I love it here

"go fuck a lion on a roller coaster" ... made my morning! Clearly the OP has a MUCH too sophisticated taste in culture to subsist in a tiny little "hick town" like Halifax! He needs lions, and theme parks, and concerts, oh MY.

Re: “This should not annoy me as much as it does

True, true, true. Often times its not even a total lie just an obvious embellishment to flatter the story teller.

Re: “Tommy Can You Hear Me?

Well played response OP, well played. I walk around naked in my apartment constantly- no one has complained yet but if they did I know exactly what I would say now!

Re: “An Open Letter To My Fellow Cranky, Old, Reactionaries

Sorry! I meant "Urban Farmer Bob"! Kind of undermines my point when I can't seem to read.

Re: “An Open Letter To My Fellow Cranky, Old, Reactionaries

Old Farmer Bob - Kudos, I wanted to say something along the same lines but you did an excellent job so I will just add a further 2 cents;

1) I do not support violence of any kind.
2)The people smashing cars, throwing bottles, and causing general mayhem were not PROTESTORS, they were VANDALS. Continuing to label them as such only undermines the message that thousands of peaceful, rational, and informed citizens were trying to send by exercising their right to protest.

I've been told by foreigners visiting Canada that they can't believe how passive we are as a country - we let alot of things slide and rarely seem to organize on a mass scale. While I am disappointed at the behaviour of some sadisitic opportunists up in Toronto, I am also relieved that so many people cared enough to turn up.

... And please don't jump to assumptions that people were protesting "globalization", there were a large number of specific items on the agenda that anyone could have had a problem with (not to mention the cost).

Re: “Wooden Shoe Cafe

Went here today after reading the great review in the Herald - kind of a random location for this kind of place but it did not disappoint! Smaillish dining room, not much to look at but very freindly service and the food was to die for. The menu was pretty small, mostly sandwichs and tradional Dutch crepes; my veggie sandwich was delish and the fresh bread from Julien's was incredibly tasty. The portions were great and the simple, quality ingredients were satisfying. We will definitely be back!
