Heaven For Real

Craft Single (Craft Singles)

22review6.jpg

On its contribution to the new batch of Craft Singles, Halifax's twin-powered trio offers the listener two salient sides of the same smirk. Similar to its nomenclature, the A-side--- "You Are One With The Iron-heart Device"---pokes sardonically at the idea of paradise. Singer Mark Grundy hints at several different moods and interpretations by peppering small vocal inflections throughout. The song is repeatedly stripped down to slight, truncated guitar riffs, making it seem like a playful gleam. On the flip side, "Hero's Code" is more of a sinister sneer: a two-minute mystery clocked by a ticking rim shot.

Survey Asks

Should council use the yet-to-be-finalized Centre Plan when debating new developments?

  • No, it doesn’t exist yet and is still likely to change
  • Yes, thousands of hours of work and consultation have gone into what’s already assembled
  • Maybe, it really depends on what’s being proposed by the developer
  • I don’t know what the Centre Plan is and do not wish to participate in this poll
