Who’s responsible? Jamie MacLellan, HRM’s public arts facilitator, 490-1585.
Remarks: A reader complains that only half the bells on the Memorial Bell Tower are ringing. “It sounds horrible,” he says, “every 15 minutes.” MacLellan confirms there’s a “sequencing error,” meaning some of the bells don’t ring at all, and he trots out the usual explanations---salty fog, bird crap, etc. “The last time this happened, we had to put it out to bid, and an American firm fixed it. We don’t know yet if we’ll have to put it out to bid again or if we can do it in-house.” Well, let’s hope for the best: There’s just five months and change before December 6, the anniversary of the Explosion.
