Human Amusement at Hourly Rates

Published December 04, 2003.Guided by VoicesHuman Amusement at Hourly Rates (Matador)Thirty-two songs! What other band could dish up 32 songs on a single CD collection and still leave you wanting more? Considering Bob Pollard’s prolific output over the years, die-hard fans will surely create lists of misguided omissions. But Human Amusement at Hourly Rates equally covers every stage of GBV’s existence, offering better versions of “Teenage FBI” and “Game of Pricks.” Highly recommended if you don’t want to shell out big bucks for the box set. —Dave Hayden
