Great Eastern Sun rises

Learn about Nova Scotia's Shambhala community, past and present, at the Canadian Immigration Museum at Pier 21.

Great Eastern Sun rises
Shambhala's history revealed at Pier 21.

The fine folks at Pier 21 want to give you a better understanding exactly why our province came to be the world's Shambhala nerve centre. Thanks to the museum's Community Presents program, aimed at celebrating unique traditions, a new exhibit Great Eastern Sun: The Shambhala Community in Nova Scotia honours the 25th anniversary of founder Chögyam Trungpa's death with a colourful and interactive history lesson. "The Shambhala community is woven into this place, has developed great appreciation for the culture and the future of Nova Scotia and has a lot to contribute to this great part of North America," says Carolyn Gimian, a Shambhala community member. Learn about how Nova Scotia became a home for Trungpa and Shambhala through artifacts, member profiles, contemplative photography, a meditation room and more.

To April 21, Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, 1055 Marginal Road
