Don’t be fooled, Kevin Tancharoen’s Glee: The 3D Concert Movie isn’t so much a movie or a documentary as it is an endorsement for the hit TV series. Testimonials of doting fans getting teary-eyed over how the show transformed their lives are intercut with live concert footage of the TV stars covering pop songs. The ultimate message: it’s OK to be yourself because everyone is actually different. (Though isn’t it cheating to pretend one of the actors needs a wheelchair when he can walk?) The songs, including the slowest rendition of the Beatles “I Want To Hold Your Hand” you’ll ever hear, were better left in their original state. Why in 3D? Maybe it’s so you feel like you could grab hold of that mic and belt out your own rendition of an over-played hit single. And just be you. –Molly Segal
