Get tangled up in Funny Money

The Dartmouth Players wrangle laughs with ease in this British comedy.

Funny Money is one of those door-slamming farces that requires the audience to sit back, suspend disbelief and get carried away by the humour of the increasingly tangled web of lies that its main character weaves. Tony Marshall does a fine job as the web-weaving Henry Perkins, an everyman who puts himself in a dangerous situation when he decides to keep an ill-gotten windfall. This kind of comedy requires split-second timing and, while some of the cast show a defter delivery than others, it all comes together for an entertaining evening of easy laughter where some of the funniest moments come when the actors themselves get mixed up by their brain-bending lies. And despite being set in England, no one belabours a stagey British accent, which is always a plus in my books.

To April 16 (Wed -Sat), Dartmouth Players Theatre, 33 Crichton Street, 8pm (2pm matinee Apr 10), 465-7529
