Re: “Glut of office space disastrous for Halifax Convention Centre financials

18 milion is just what the HRM taxpayer's are paying for, that does not include what taxpayer's are paying provincially every year. Not to mention we have paid for it to be built in the first place! Then we have to pay to lease back what we paid to build for 25 years, we then have to sign an additional five year lease and finally at the end of those 30 years tax payers will finally own what they will have paid for multiple times over for!
Still waiting for someone to explain to me how this was good for taxpayers! So far it was only good for Joe Ramia!!

Smiling Goat

I understand the need for consistent pay cheques!!.. They however are not OWED a health plan, that is at the employers discretion! They are at the end of the day a small coffee shop chain! Unions have a habit of driving small businesses under, so they could all lose their jobs now instead!!smh!

Well I understand the need for consistent pays..but at the end of the day it is still a coffee shop and health plans may be something they have to give up until the businesses get stronger...Unions have a habit of driving small businesses under....so there is always the chance they will all lose their jobs now instead!

Re: “A nightmare of evocation as Halifax falls to the wrecking ball

Here's a novel idea (sarcasm intended),
OH a parking lot we have to build on it now or we are dying as a municipality!!!...UM NO, why not build some more green spaces with specific use intended. Not every parking lot has to be turned into a towering monstrosity!
We already have been burned as taxpayers on the new world trade center (we paid 150 plus million to build that section) then we DO NOT even own it we have to lease it for the next 25 years not to mention how much has to be spent on the interior. As taxpayer we got ripped off big time, while the developer makes off like a bandit funding part of the other 350 million development with the money from leasing what we already paid to build!

Re: “Halifexit? Survey says nearly half of HRM residents want to split city from county

Realistic 69...we had all those services thanks, including having started the bus service etc. We were in the black halifax was deeply in the red. We had fire and police services we were not some backwoods town. The only ones who recieved the biggest benefit from amalgamation WAS AND IS HALIFAX!!

Re: “Halifexit? Survey says nearly half of HRM residents want to split city from county

Who are you kidding amalgamation was forced on us because Halifax was broke while Dartmouth was not! The constant syphoning of Dartmouth tax dollars to build everything in pennisular Halifax with our tax dollars has done nothing to benefit us. Instead of continuing the building up of downtown dartmouth with our tax dollars we were left to languish while pennisular halifax continues to be the only ones benefitiing from amalgamation.!
