Gang Gang Dance

Eye Contact (4AD)

gang-review.jpg
With each release, these Manhattan experimentalists become more confident and continue to crystallize their disparate influences; Eye Contact, their fifth album, is no exception. The album opens with a voice saying “I can hear everything, it’s everything time” which is the perfect descriptor for the blissful psychedelia that follows. From its beginnings as an edgy, opaque art-rock band, Gang Gang Dance has been equally curious and exciting, albeit occasionally alienating. Now, having shed tangential tendencies and retained much of their unique energy, they’ve made a truly unique record full of tantalizing live sequencing and fabulous production flourishes.

Survey Asks

Should council use the yet-to-be-finalized Centre Plan when debating new developments?

  • No, it doesn’t exist yet and is still likely to change
  • Yes, thousands of hours of work and consultation have gone into what’s already assembled
  • Maybe, it really depends on what’s being proposed by the developer
  • I don’t know what the Centre Plan is and do not wish to participate in this poll
