Fruit flavoured beers: Brews with bite

After all that talk about session beers, here are a few places you can find especially delicious novelty flavours to tickle your taste buds.

Halifax Alehouse

The Alehouse has plenty to choose from when it comes to pleasing your beer belly. But for those less enthusiastic about traditional flavours, the bar's Pump House Blueberry Ale is sure to satisfy all tastes. It's light, refreshing and flavourful---a yummy treat for anyone who prefers a fruitier drink.

Maxwell's Plum

You're sure to find a flavour to love here, with the 60-plus beers on tap and more by the bottle. But for something a little different try a bottle of Fruili Strawberry Ale. Who can resist the novelty of a beer flavoured like our favourite summertime snack?

1600 Grafton Street, 423-5090

Henry House

Known for its award-winning brews, Henry House also offers specially flavoured beers. The McAuslan's Apricot Ale is especially tasty, with tangy apricot undertones. Try it if you enjoy red ales.

Brussels Restaurant & Brasserie

Employee Stephanie Poteri says Mort Subite Kriek Lambic, a Belgian cherry beer, is probably the most popular of Brussels' fruit-flavoured beers. It has a subtle cherry flavour and is suited for fans of lighter brews. "It's more of a cherry after-tone, and it's carbonated. It's more like a cooler than it is a beer, really," says Poteri.
