French Kiss: Lisa LeBlanc, Weldon Boudreau

New Brunswick singer-songwriter Lisa LeBlanc is playing Halifax for the first time, thanks to the Seahorse's new French Kiss night. "I think it's a great opportunity for us Francophones to play our originals in Halifax," writes LeBlanc. "There exists a nice Francophone community in town and in Nova Scotia, the Acadian culture is very rich, why not show her off?" That's what Seahorse booking manager Troy Arsenault asked himself, and then answered, after realizing how many thousands of Francophones there are in town. "I had to see if we could supply these fans with a venue," he says. French Kiss is a one-night-a-month gig where Arsenault books French artists in the bar that normally only hosts English shows. This month's artists include singer-songwriters LeBlanc and Weldon Boudreau, from Cape Breton. "I hope our regular crowd takes the advantage to check these artists out," finishes Arsenault. We do, too, so make some time for the early show and head to the Seahorse for 8pm. –Holly Gordon
