Fight With Tools
Fans of hip-hop realize that long before the musical genre became mired in bullets, bling and bitches, it was a socially conscious, thought-provoking medium. Many of these same fans also realize that the message has gotten lost with the current crop of disposable emcees. However, on Fight With Tools, the Flobots are striving to return to the roots of rap. The beats contained within Fight are certainly catchy, but listen to the lyrics on tracks such as “Mayday!!,” “Anne Braden” and “Rise” and you’ll clearly hear that the Flobots are more concerned with changing the world than painting another picture of thug life.
