Local rockers The Hemingways once recorded a song called “What the Hell’s with Connaught Pharmacy?” Good question. No longer a pharmacy—no longer a business at all—Connaught Pharmacy is obviously filled with stuff, but not obviously doing anything.

Remarks: “It was operating as a pharmacy at some point in the past 20 years,” says Fougere—and technically, it still could. The pharmacy opened before the area was re-zoned as residential, therefore it retains the right to operate as a business. The current owners still live in the building, says Fougere, but she’s heard of no plans to reopen the store. In a nutshell, that’s what the hell’s with Connaught Pharmacy.

Who's Responsible?: Sheila Fougere, councillor for Connaught. 490-4087.
