Remarks: We thought it was common knowledge, but apparently it bears repeating: Sidewalks are typically for walking. Therefore, it helps if they’re not obstructed by big concrete pillars, like the bases of these telephone poles. And if you think walkers have it rough, try to get past one of these things in a wheelchair. Sideblock, more like it. Eh? Eh?


Who's Responsible?: We spoke with a heckuva lot of city employees for this one, and a heckuva lot of departments: Public Works, Capital Projects, Planning and Development Services, Right-of-Way Services…but nobody could give us a straight answer about who was behind this beacon of civic design.
