FemFest

The festival that celebrates local female talent is set to take off this weekend, with entertainment at the Company House (2202 Gottingen Street, 8pm, $6-$10) Friday and Saturday night, a craft fair Sunday at the North Street Church (5657 North Street, 10am-6pm) and a Sunday evening children's book reading at Local Jo Cafe (2959 Oxford Street, 7pm). The Company House will have you enjoying the work of spoken word artists, musicians such as Mary Stewart, Kate Surette, Pamela Under Water (pictured) and a special show from Bang Bang Burlesque. Caitlin Blennerhassett of the Saint Mary's Women's Centre organized the weekend, and says the entire weekend has "come directly from the community"---if you want to be a part of the FemFest community, you're invited. –Holly Gordon
