Fall Out Boy

Folie a Deux (Mercury)

This typically solid batch of hooks takes a different tack than Fall Out Boy's 2007 release, Infinity on High, which opened with Jay-Z announcing, "Welcome, it's here." Instead, an organ leads into Patrick Stump moping about how "I'm coming apart at the seams." But lest you think Fall Out Boy has dropped its self-aware wit on their latest album Folie a Deux, wait for the chorus: "Perfect boys with their perfect lives/nobody wants to hear you sing about tragedy." And so they don't---the band sings about being famous, insecure and hating Bush, and it sounds huge as usual, and catches in your head, as usual.
