After reading up on the psychology of jewellery, Erica Leal's creativity was piqued. The curious relationship between the wearer and the viewer became the inspiration for her jewellery exhibit Face Value, which examines the ways in which the jeweller's vision is adapted by the wearer and interpreted by the viewer. "I wanted to focus on the way we use material objects to perform certain aspects of ourselves," says the recent NSCAD graduate. The exhibit showcases a collection of slides of masks that are made of collaged photos of gems, displayed within metal

compacts and projected using a flashlight. But Leal wants you to be the wearer, as well as the viewer of Face Value. Thanks to the projections, you can not only look at the masks, but try them on too.

To May 28, Anna Leonowens Gallery, 1891 Granville Street, opening reception Mon May 23, 5:30pm
