There are some pretty nifty web-based election resources out there, which some people might find useful.
First, our web editor Andy Murdoch points us to a compilation of census data applied to local election districts. I'll be using this information for all sorts of journalistic purposes into the future. It's really quite incredible, and I suggest you wander around a bit and see what you find of interest.
For the federal election, the web sites Vote for environment and Vote for climate suggest that people cast their votes strategically in a way that supposedly results in better environmental policies. It's an iffy proposition all the way around, and I don't know that the supposed analysis of polling data holds up under scrutiny (examine the reasoning and you'll see what I mean). All the same, the arguments are of interest, and these sites are worth a look.
