Admit it. You’ve sometimes wished that life would give you a “mulligan”, a chance to go back and do things differently. Well, in Michael Melski’s Eighteen, unhappy senior citizens Ben and Claire (played by Robbie O’Neil and Elizabeth Richardson) get that chance when they fall into the Fountain of Youth. But it soon becomes apparent that a do-over doesn’t guarantee happiness. Andrea Lee Norwood and Rhys Bevan-John play Ben and Claire’s daughter and fiancée who are catapulted into old age where they learn much about themselves and their relationship. The acting is superb, and the resemblance between Richardson and Norwood is mind-bogglingly uncanny. The show dazzles technically with beautifully executed projections, sound and lighting. And the script is both irreverently funny and achingly poignant. Eighteen is sure to make you laugh, but it will also make you think about the choices you’ve made and the things (and people) you should appreciate. --Kate Watson
