Dreamy Lake Names

Surf-pop from Truro will make you summer sunnier

Lake faces.
  • Lake faces.

Listening to Lakes Names' breezy EP ECHO can create phantom wind through your hair and salt water on your lips. Aside from reflecting Marcus Fiddes' and Adam Hartling's desire to be in a Beach Fossils, Holiday Shores-esque summery surf band, the debut record is also evidence of the product reflecting the process. "We recorded our EP in a friend's house---drums in the kitchen, amps in the bedrooms kind of deal--so it was a really laid-back atmosphere.  We were drinking coffee instead of drinking beer, and it was just a really painless experience," says Fiddes. Fiddes, Hartling, Jamie Densmore and Kirstan Moore make up the daydream-inducing Lake Names, who arrived on their name after flipping through an atlas. And it's looking like summer might last longer than usual because, lucky for us, they've already got another EP in the works. –Allison Saunders
