Doug Mason
Invisible Star
(indie)
You didn’t need to be involved in the Halifax music scene in the mid-’90s to appreciate Invisible Star. But it could help. Doug Mason---band name or alter-ego?---is the creation of Michael Jackson. Along with Cliff Gibb, Mike O’Neill and a few other
notable Halifax musicians,
Jackson has turned out a nostalgia trip back to a musical yesteryear with an album that name-drops The Super Friendz, Penhorn Mall and many other local landmarks. Wrapped in a sound reminiscent of the
indie-rock scene that dominated this city for nearly a decade,
this is music that has serious chops but refuses to take itself too seriously.
